Beginning in Woolwich by the Thames, the route diverts briefly away from the river. Turning left into Warspite Road, the route continues on Bowater Road and into Unity Way. Please note this direct route is only open between the hours of 06:00 to 21:00. From 21:00 until 06:00 a diversion is in place from Warspite Road, turning right into Woolwich Road and right again at the Royal Greenwich Trust School, heading towards the river by joining Unity Way. At Woolwich Road, those on bicycles may wish to dismount and walk for this section of busy road.
However, from here the route swiftly re-joins the river and runs along a traffic-free path, allowing for a more pleasant journey. The route runs near the Thames Flood Barrier, which has a visitors centre and café, providing ample information on the history of this landmark barrier.
The route continues along the river and passes the Greenwich Yacht Club before turning left off the Thames Path and running west through Central Park and joining Millenium Way. This is a busy road so cyclists should use the shared use path on this section. The route then turns onto residential roads and rejoins the river at Lovell's Wharf.
Users that would like to visit the Cutty Sark will need to head straight on at the Royal Naval College, although please note that cycling is not permitted through Cutty Sark Gardens so you will need to wheel your bike once in the Gardens.
In order to access Greenwich Park cyclists will need to ride along Romney Road, which can be busy during rush hour so care will need to be taken on this short stretch of road. From here the route heads left and into the Park, where the route ends.
