Route 818 of the National Cycle Network is a short route between Cwmystwyth and Llangurig, linkings Routes 8 and 81 together.

Route 818 is a short link between Route 81 and Route 8, travelling between Cwmystwyth and Llangurig. It's a great alternative if you don't want to travel via the Elan Valley.

Leaving Cwmystwyth the route is traffic-free for a short while before joining quiet roads until Troedyrallt. Here the route takes you onto the A44 and into Llangurig.

Things to see and do

  • Cwmystwyth mines are worth the visit and are considered one of the best examples of mining heritage in Wales.
  • The River Wye is not to be missed as the fifth-longest river in the UK.
