Strategic Partnerships in Scotland

We work closely with stakeholders across Scotland to make active travel safer, more accessible, and more rewarding for everyone.

We share knowledge and expertise to develop quality active travel projects and guide strategies.

Embedded Officer Programme

The Strategic Partnerships team share knowledge and expertise to develop quality active travel projects and guide strategies with:

  • Local Authorities
  • national organisations
  • public transport providers
  • and Regional Transport Partnerships.

Our Embedded Officers Programme helps our partners to develop and deliver active travel strategies.

And this keeps walking, wheeling and cycling at the forefront of projects being delivered in local areas.

Local Authorities

Sustrans Senior Project Officers draw expertise and resources from across Sustrans, facilitate access to funding, and work on various projects related to cycling and walking.

We currently have Senior Project Officers embedded in:

National organisations

We're also working with the following national organisations in Scotland:

We work with a range of partners to provide expertise and support on active travel projects.

Bike Life Scotland

As part of our UK-wide Bike Life project, we're working with seven Scottish cities to produce bi-annual reports.

These reports show progress toward making cycling an attractive and everyday means of travel.

Together we produce evidence-based, engaging and accessible Bike Life reports, to help inform and influence active travel planning in Scotland’s cities.

Bike Life gives city leaders the confidence, opportunity and evidence to talk about the benefits of cycling.

Public transport providers

We work with Public transport Providers on projects which make it easier to combine walking, wheeling and cycling with the bus, ferry and train journeys.

In partnership with Transport for Edinburgh, we’re working on producing a user-friendly digital wayfinding tool to improve urban mobility.

Regional transport partnerships

We work closely with Regional Transport Partnerships (RTPs) to help ensure walking, wheeling and cycling is kept at the forefront of projects being delivered in local areas.
