Leading the Way with Workplace Active Travel

Our FREE award-winning programme called Leading the Way is funded by the Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland. We engage with workplace partners in Belfast and the North West helping employees to make small, sustainable changes to daily travel habits and leave the car behind more.

Our two-person team co-ordinate and deliver a wide range of  activities, training and personal support to motivate and enable a shift towards active travel to work and for everyday journeys.

What we offer

  • cycle training (all abilities: beginners, returners, commuters)
  • Women into Cycling programmes
  • bike maintenance workshops
  • FREE bike checks
  • try an e-bike
  • Borrow a Bicycle scheme
  • led walks, cycles and buddy rides
  • journey planning and travel advice
  • Cycle to Work Day events
  • workplace challenges and competitions
  • active travel and wellbeing ambassador training
  • Policy guidance and resources
  • Sustrans annual Active Travel Challenge
  • guidance on achieving the PHA’s 5 steps to wellbeing
  • incentives and much more.

I took advantage of Sustrans Borrow a Bike scheme which allowed me to try out my journey to work on an e-bike before committing to purchasing my own. It’s been a real game changer to how I travel.
