This 74-mile route passes through beautiful market towns, countryside and the wonderful Watermead Park - perfect for nature lovers looking to spot some interesting wildlife.

Route 48 runs from Tetbury and Cirencester to Northleach, Moreton-in-Marsh and Southam. There you can join with Route 41, which takes you into Royal Leamington Spa.

Warwickshire Council has produced maps between Moreton-in-Marsh and Shipston-on-Stour and then Shipston-on-Stour to Southam.

The route also runs from Birstall north of Leicester, taking you past Syston and Thrussington.

The path travels through Watermead Country Park, just north of Leicester and takes you out to the countryside and ending just south of Hickling.

The beautiful market town of Cirencester, known as the 'Capital of the Cotswolds', has plenty to do including The Corinium Museum which is home to one of the largest collections of Romano-British antiquities.

Just 5 miles north of Leicester, Route 48 travels through Watermead Country Park, a 140-hectare green oasis and a haven for wildlife. The Country Park is nearly two miles long and has over 12 lakes.
