Route 466 of the National Cycle Network is an on-road route running between the Heads of the Valley and Pontypool. It follows the route of the Ebbw Valley Railway and connects residents to Ebbw Vale Parkway Station.

Route 466 takes you off Route 46, into the valleys and past Ebbw Vale and onto Cwm. At the moment there is a gap in the route between Cwm and Crumlin. From Crumlin, the route is open on to Pontypool.

Ebbw Vale to Cwm

This route links Ebbw Vale’s Festival Park to Cwm Recreation ground and forms part of National Route 466 which travels from the Heads of the Valleys to Cwm. It provides residents of Cwm direct access to Ebbw Vale Parkway Station. The route largely follows the route of the Ebbw Valley Railway.  Sustrans and Blaenau Gwent are working on a plan to extend the route south to join Route 465 at Aberbeeg.

Crumlin to Pontypool

This section of Route 466 travels from Crumlin to Pontypool via Swffryd and Hafodyrynys. The route just after Hafodyrynys is traffic-free until you join the Crumlin Road, avoiding the busier A472. This takes you all the way into Pontypool where you join another traffic-free path.
