Work in partnership with us to tackle the challenges of congestion, air pollution, physical inactivity, and social inequality, by making it easier for people to walk and cycle.
For professionalsYour support helps to give children access to the training and equipment they need to ride a bike safely - starting a cycle of good that can go on to benefit their health, education and future.
Get involvedHundreds of barriers are restricting access to the National Cycle Network. Your donation today will help us remove and redesign barriers on our land on the Network.
Barriers on the Network are restricting many people from accessing the Network, and enjoying its benefits.
With your support for our Raise the Bar appeal, we can work towards removing or redesigning barriers on our own land, to create a Network for everyone.
Your donation will help us remove and redesign
Nearly 800 barriers
on Sustrans-owned land on the Network
It can cost up to £2,000
per barrier for removal or redesign
Our Paths for Everyone report listed removing and redesigning barriers as an essential step to bringing the Network up to scratch.
A fully accessible Network – without barriers – is a better Network, for everybody.
Barriers exclude people from using the Network. Removing and redesigning barriers can change that.
By improving access to the Network, many disabled people, older people and young families will be able to enjoy it easily, freely and comfortably.
Improving accessibility isn’t as simple as just taking barriers away. We’ll assess options and work with local communities and groups, so that changes meet everybody’s needs.
And by working on our own land, we’ll set the standard for other landowners, to increase accessibility across all of the Network.
