How to take part in Bike To School Week

Get involved and cycle or scoot to school between 27 September and 1 October 2021.

Here’s how you can join in the celebration of cycling and scooting to school this September.

This year Bike to School Week takes place from 27 September to 1 October 2021.

And for the first time, we want to try and track how many families take part.

Bike to School Week is a UK-wide event that we run every year in partnership with Bikeability trust.

Together we celebrate cycling and scooting to school and the massive benefits this brings to children’s health and the environment.

Everyone can take part in Bike to School Week and there is no registration process for schools.

Instead, all we ask is that you let us know if you and your family will be cycling, scooting or wheeling to school from 27 September and 1 October by pledging your journeys via the form below.

And your school journey can be made with any type of cycle, for example, handcycle, tagalong, cargo bike, scooter or wheelchair.

By pledging your journeys, you'll be in with a chance of winning a child’s Frog Bike worth up to £400. Read the terms and conditions.

We'll also send you a free guide to walking, cycling and scooting to school with lots of great tips and activities.

The Bike To School Week pledge is now closed.

Why cycle, scoot or walk the school run?

There are loads of benefits to getting active on the way to school.

  1. It's a boost to children's physical and mental health and wellbeing
  2. Children arrive more relaxed, alert and ready to start the day.
  3. There's reduced congestion and pollution around the school gates.
  4. Children are more aware of road safety and feel more independent.

During Sustrans Big Pedal (April 2021) over half a million children cycled or scooted to school.

Now you can help us find out how many families cycle or scoot to school during Bike to School Week 2021 by pledging to take part.
