Volunteer group coordinator, Chester

Would you like to make a real difference in your local area and help to get people walking and cycling on your local National Cycle Network route? We're looking for a group coordinator in the Chester area to bring together and motivate local volunteers to help look after and promote the National Cycle Network.

What does a Sustrans volunteer group coordinator do?

You will act as the main volunteer contact in the area and ensure information, knowledge and resources are shared with local volunteers. You'll link in with the other Sustrans volunteer groups such as North East Wales volunteers, Wirral volunteers, and other local community groups.

You will receive support and direction from the Sustrans volunteer coordinator, your local Sustrans land manager, and the Network development manager for your region.

What we're looking for

To apply for this role you should be:

  • a good communicator
  • someone who enjoys working with people, motivating others and acting as
  • supportive and encouraging to others
  • able to identify skills and interest in the group and coordinate activities and responsibilities
  • able to work with a diverse range of people.

Time commitment

1-2 days a month, which can include task days on the National Cycle Network, attending local events or meetings, and communicating with the group. This may include evenings and weekends.

Training and support offered

An initial training and induction session will be provided regionally.

You will have access to our online learning portal to improve your existing skills and learn new ones.

Sustrans organises a number of days throughout the year, which will offer valuable updates, networking opportunities with other volunteers and group coordinators, and training in relevant skills.

You will receive central communications to support you in your role and can join our online community to find support in other group coordinators.
