Why become a Sustrans volunteer?
We connect people and places, create liveable neighbourhoods, transform the school run and deliver a happier, healthier commute.
Our Communications and Marketing team is looking for photographers who can help us communicate our work with a variety of audiences.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in the third sector and build your portfolio of photography. Our photography volunteer will gain experience in creating projects from beginning to end and will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects.
What does a Sustrans photography volunteer do?
As a volunteer, you'll be expected to carry out agreed tasks as led by our Communications and Marketing team.
Your tasks may include any of the following:
- Photography at local events
- Organising photography shoots
- Attending an initial meeting to go through your task plan and thereafter mainly via MS Teams, phone or email contact
- Complying with Sustrans' brand guidelines.
What we're looking for
We are looking for people who:
- have experience with photography
- enjoy walking and cycling and can access local cycle routes and Sustrans projects, ideally via sustainable transport
- are self-motivated, and can carry out tasks independently once directed
- work well within a team
- have good communication skills.
The role is flexible and dependent on your availability and skills.
Communication is essential to your role, so you'll need to liaise with the Communications and Marketing Officer to keep up to date with local developments and your task plan.

The Communications and Marketing Officer and Sustrans Cymru Volunteer Coordinator will offer you all the support you need to carry out your role.
