Route Description
Starting at Sandy Water Park in Llanelli, the Swiss Valley Cycle Route follows a disused railway line that climbs gently from the Millennium Coastal Park into the rolling hills above, passing the Felinfoel Brewery.
Further on, you reach the peaceful Lliedi Reservoirs where you can enjoy stunning views of the Gwendraeth Valley.
From Tumble, the route continues past the Mynydd Mawr Woodland Park to Cross Hands where it finishes by the cinema.
At the end there is an option of a link to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. The link is an additional 4-mile ride following Route 47, and is a mixture of on-road and traffic-free paths, but is well worth the journey. You can stop for lunch in the Great Glass House. An added bonus of arriving at the Botanical Gardens by bicycle is that you will be awarded half-price admission.
The National Botanic Garden contains wonderfully designed gardens, perfect for exploration, that house every single known species of plant unique to Wales, as well as rare plants from all over the World. Check their website beforehand for a list of events and workshops.
