The route begins in Newburgh on the banks of the River Tay and travels to Auchtermuchty on the edge of the Howe of Fife. Auchtermuchty has a festival of community and traditional music events every August. The route takes you on road to Dunshalt, which sits on the north bank of the River Eden.
The route continues onto Falkland where it connects with Route 1. In Falkland, make sure you go and visit Falkland Palace and gardens, a former royal palace of the Scottish Kings.
From Falkland you can travel into the fantastic Lomond Hills Regional Park. The area was designated as Scotland's first Regional Park in 1986 in recognition of its importance for recreation and conservation.
