Route Description

National Route 54 of the National Cycle Network will run from Stourport to Parsley Hay via Kidderminster, Dudley, Lichfield, Burton and Derby. The route includes the High Peak Trail which connects at Parsley Hay with the Tissington Trail (National Route 68), as well as to a number of other trails in the Peak District. It will form part of the proposed 60-mile circular White Peak Loop.

Open Sections

The route is open and traffic-free along the Staffordshire & Worcestershire canal towpath between Stourport and Kidderminster. 

The next open section is between Stourbridge and Dudley from where the only current open route is to follow National Route 81 to Sandwell and then National Route 5 to Creswell Green.

Nationa Route 54 is then open through Burton upon Trent and Derby to Little Eaton.

On the White Peak Loop the route is open on the High Peak Trail, country lanes and the Manifold Trail between High Peak Junction and Waterhouses, on the Old Churnet Rail Trail between Oakamoor and Denstone and mainly on minor roads between Uttoxeter and Hilton.
