Pick up the National Route 6 in Bede Park just a mile from the Leicester train station.
The route winds up the banks of the River Soar and takes in a few minor roads before reaching Abbey Park which is a great destination in itself. The route then guides riders past the National Space Centre before continuing up the River Soar to eventually enter Watermead Park.

The park is a wildlife haven and a popular spot for bird watching, fishing, walking and cycling. The River Soar and Grand Union Canal act as wildlife corridors to the park and there is no better way to see it than exploring it on foot or by bike.
King Lear's Lake, John Merrick's Lake and the Lily Pond are used for fishing during the Open Season (1st July - 31st March).

This is a largely traffic-free cycle link from Leicester City Centre to the tranquil Watermead Park. This route begins in Bede park and runs for 7.5 miles north out of the city, through Watermead Park, and over the fantastic Wreake cycle bridge to Syston Road.
