Route Description

This short and spectacular ride into the heart of the popular seaside resort of Saundersfoot takes you from a quiet wooded valley, along a wonderful raised promenade up above the crashing waves of Carmarthen Bay and through a series of short tunnels carved into the cliffs; the path is level and well-surfaced for the whole length.

The ride starts at the Ironworks Heritage Centre at Stepaside, where there is ample parking, and winds through the trees alongside the stream to the beach at Wisemans Bridge. It then turns and follows the beach along the promenade that used to carry the Saundersfoot Railway, originally built to transport iron and coal but now busy with walkers and cyclists enjoying the stunning views.

The approach to Saundersfoot goes through three tunnels and along The Strand to the harbour where there are shops, cafes and restaurants. This route is very popular with walkers, especially in summer, so please be considerate when sharing the path and dismount when you go through the tunnels.

Mae’r daith fer ac ysblennydd hon i ganol cyrchfan glan môr poblogaidd Saundersfoot yn mynd â chi o ddyffryn coediog tawel, ar hyd promenâd uchel uwchlaw tonnau gwyllt Bae Caerfyrddin a thrwy gyfres o dwneli byr sydd wedi eu cerfio i’r clogwyni; mae’r llwybr yn wastad ac mae wyneb da iddo ar ei hyd.

Mae’r daith yn dechrau yng Nghanolfan Treftadaeth y Gwaith Haearn yn Stepaside, lle mae digonedd o le i barcio, ac yn troelli ei ffordd drwy goed ar hyd ymyl y nant i’r traeth ym Mhont Wiseman. Yna mae’r llwybr yn troi ac yn dilyn y traeth ar hyd y promenâd a arferai gludo Rheilffordd Saundersfoot, a adeiladwyd yn wreiddiol i gludo haearn a glo ond sydd erbyn hyn yn brysur gyda cherddwyr a beicwyr yn mwynhau’r golygfeydd ysblennydd.

Wrth ddynesu at Saundersfoot mae’r llwybr yn mynd drwy dri thwnnel ac ar hyd y Strand i’r harbwr lle ceir y siopau, caffis a’r bwytai. Mae’r daith hon yn boblogaidd iawn gyda cherddwyr, yn arbennig yn yr haf, felly byddwch yn ystyrlon pan fyddwch yn rhannu’r llwybr a dewch oddi ar eich beic wrth fynd drwy’r twneli.
