Volunteering in Wales

At Sustrans Cymru we’re lucky to have 350 people volunteering with us, supporting our work, looking after the Network and raising awareness of the brilliant Network of routes that we have here in Wales. We'd love you to join us!

Whether you’re looking to develop your skills and experience, meet new people, or improve your local National Cycle Network, there are a variety of ways you can get involved.

Volunteer Rangers

As a Sustrans Ranger, you’ll help to look after a section of the National Cycle Network near you. With hundreds of miles of Network in Wales we need our Rangers to be our eyes and ears on the route. Responsibilities include monitoring the route, signage inspections and maintenance, as well as getting involved in group work days where you’ll get the chance to meet other rangers and work on maintenance and environmental projects.

Active Travel Champions

As an Active Travel Champion you’ll manage promotional campaigns at your university or workplace to encourage people to walk or cycle for more of their everyday journeys. You can get involved in all sorts of exciting promotional activities including events, social media and web promotion, or come up with your very own creative idea to inspire people to travel actively!

Group co-ordinator

Become a group co-ordinator and help to coordinate your local Sustrans volunteer group. Communication is key to this role as you’ll be motivating your local volunteers, and making sure their tasks fit in with their interests and skills.
