1 January 2016

It’s January – the perfect time to kick start your new year’s resolutions. So as you welcome in a new year, why not make volunteering this year’s resolution?

We've lots of opportunities for you to volunteer with us. From helping to maintain your local stretch of the National Cycle Network, motivating your local community to travel by foot, bike or public transport, improving wildlife along our greenways, to inspiring young people in schools to get active – there’s something for everyone.

Volunteering with Sustrans makes me feel good, I can give something back to society and I’ve also learnt new skills. I'd definitely recommend volunteering for Sustrans for fun times throughout!

Sustrans community volunteer

Tahera, a Sustrans community volunteer from Bradford says:

“By encouraging people to travel more sustainably and helping them to make a difference in their community, I benefit too. It makes me feel good, I can give something back to society and I’ve also learnt new skills. I'd definitely recommend volunteering for Sustrans for fun times throughout!”

Not only does volunteering give you a chance to learn new skills, it’s also a great social experience as you meet other like-minded volunteers.

Katie Aartse-Tuyn, Senior Project Officer, Volunteer Engagement says:

“There are tons of activities and events to get involved in with Sustrans. As a volunteer, you’ll get support from your staff supervisor, receive any necessary training to help you carry out your role and you’ll be linked in with other Sustrans volunteers in your area to share ideas and a helping hand.”

We’d love for you to join our 4,000 volunteers across the UK.
