The children had a prime position to watch the race

Around 100 children from schools across Bradford started stage three of this year’s successful Tour de Yorkshire (28-30 April).

The Schools Peloton, which we organised with Bradford schools and East Bradford Cycling Club, opened the race from City Park through to Broadway before the professionals got on their bikes. During the Tour de Yorkshire event around 2.2 million people turned out for the three days of cycling.

We work with schools across Bradford to make it easier for more children to walk and cycle to school.

Ian Cullen, our Active Travel officer in Bradford said:

“This was a fantastic chance for children in Bradford to experience the electric atmosphere of the Tour de Yorkshire. We’ re working with children across Bradford to help them cycle to school and the Tour is a great way to inspire even more children to get on their bikes.”
