Route 278 is a beautiful section of the National Cycle Network in North Devon that lakes you on a loop just off National Route 27, also known as the Devon Coast to Coast.

Leaving Route 27 and heading west, you'll travel past Georgeham village, a classic 'chocolate-box' village steeped in old-world charm.

The route then travels north past Putsborough and along the coast (Morte Bay) to Woolacombe. At Mortehoe the route turns east and continues back to meet Route 27.

The beach at Woolacombe has in the past been voted one of Britain's best.

Mortehoe Museum has the best of the area's rich history including interesting displays of shipwrecks and the development of farming.
