Maintenance Operative

As a member of the Central Estates team, you will maintain the general condition of land and National Cycle Network routes within the Sustrans estate.

About the role

As the Maintenance Operative, you will report to the Maintenance Manager. You will work as part of the Central Estates team, maintaining the general condition of land and National Cycle Network routes within the Sustrans estate.

You will be responsible for the safe operation of machinery, whilst carrying out regular maintenance such as drainage, vegetation clearance, tree work and grass cutting on selected sections and sites.

You will maintain records and report appropriate issues to the Maintenance Manager or Land Manager.

You will also have the opportunity to liaise with path users, volunteers, neighbours and local authority officers as well as periodically participating in volunteer events and undertaking occasional route construction activities.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based within the North West of England geographical area with regular travel expected.

 

About you

We believe in working collaboratively, so are looking for someone with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team. You will have experience of working as part of a grounds or land maintenance team.

With a good level of fitness, you will have the ability to undertake manual labour in all weather conditions on uneven ground conditions and slopes.

You will have a driving licence and be happy to travel across the region, with flexible working times.

You will have experience with using chainsaws, along with other equipment such as brush cutters, strimmers and hedge cutters.
