About the role

Our vision and mission have never been more relevant, or urgent.  Across the UK governments are pledging investment and action on walking and cycling.

We are working in partnership with communities, other organisations, and governments at all levels, to make a real difference to everyone’s lives and drive the change that so many want to see, guided by our clear five year strategy, and its two priorities of Paths for Everyone and Liveable Cities and Towns for Everyone.

We also have one of the highest employee net promoter scores across all sectors in the UK due to a highly motivated, energised, friendly and committed workforce.

This is a key leadership role covering one of our three UK-wide HR Business Partner portfolios.

Partnering with the National Directors of Scotland and Northern Ireland and their respective teams and reporting directly to the UK Executive Director of People & OD, this is a fantastic opportunity to make your mark on the people agenda at Sustrans.

You will be based in Edinburgh, with regular travel to Belfast and occasional travel to Bristol and other UK Sustrans offices.

About you

We are looking for someone who has an in-depth knowledge of contemporary people management and OD and wide ranging experience in strategic and operational HR roles, including extensive partnering.

The successful candidate will have a track record of impact in the HR field and be able to show experience of coaching and upskilling managers as well as examples of delivering change initiatives.

Leadership or involvement in organisation development is highly desirable. You will also have experience of driving inclusion and diversity initiatives. Effective communication, engagement and stakeholder management skills are key.

In return we can offer you genuine flexibility around working patterns. We embrace values-driven and inclusive leadership and we listen and make time for innovation through our people-centred culture.

Interviews will take place via MS Teams or Zoom on Friday 18 December 2020.

We may close the advert early if sufficient applications have been received so please make sure you submit your application as soon as possible.

Sustrans is committed to reducing inequality, valuing diversity and enabling inclusion.

We welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, particularly where we are under-represented.

Currently, this includes people who identify as having a disability, and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
