The Bike Life survey found that nearly three times as many men cycle in Belfast as women. We are taking practical steps to address this by launching Sustrans’ 6-week ‘Women into Cycling’ programme, which is one element of the CHIPS project, to encourage active travel. Following completion of a pilot course in the autum, we are now in the process of delivering our second course and are currently offering places, on two additional 6 week programmes, beginning in March and June.
The 6 week programme is divided into 6 x 2 hour sessions including discussion, cycle training, bike maintenance, group cycle rides, information on bicycles and equipment as well as giveaways. If you don't have a bike, we can lend you one for the course - please state this when signing up.
