Join our friendly and supportive Sustrans volunteers in association with community groups, PL21 Transition Town and Sustainable South Brent to discover the heart of Dartmoor.
Starting in Ivybridge or South Brent, we will follow scenic lanes with stunning views to discover some of Dartmoor’s finest landscapes. From secret river valleys and ancient woodlands, we will cycle through little villages then climb up onto the high moors passing ancient torrs to find Dartmoor’s highest town. The route is a circular ride of 50 miles and we will climb 5,400ft. There will be several stops including for lunch.
We will follow National Cycle Network Routes 2, 272 and 27 and other quiet roads to enjoy the countryside. This ride is moderate to challenging difficulty with some steep hills. It is a circular route and we will visit Buckfastleigh, Holne, Hexworthy, Princetown, Burrator, Cornwood and Harford.
Rides are open to anyone but you need to be reasonably fit and be prepared for changeable weather. It is suitable for e-bikes but please bring your charger. Children age 12 years and over will be welcome but must be fit and accompanied by a parent. A back-up car will be provided.
