The National Cycle Network is the people’s Network. It provides healthy, sustainable travel options for millions of people every year. It connects communities and benefits economies. And it opens doors to explore our incredible towns, cities and countryside.
With over 16,000 miles of the National Cycle Network, only a third are traffic-free. But traffic-free paths are key to achieving the Network’s full potential. These are unique and valued routes, separate from traffic and rich in nature. They provide benefits to people’s health, the environment, and communities. And we know that for Network users like you, building more traffic-free paths is a priority.
That’s why we’ve got ambitious plans to double the number of traffic-free miles on the Network. Will you donate today, and help pave the way to more traffic-free? With you by our side, we can transform the Network and create 5,000 more traffic-free miles.
And a year on from our Network review Paths for Everyone, we’ve taken the first steps towards achieving these plans.
We’ve completed new traffic-free paths connecting Narberth and Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire; and North Connell and Benderloch in Argyll and Bute. These rural communities are now connected by safe, accessible and enjoyable paths. And we’re making progress on other improvement projects across the Network.
But there is still a long way to go.
A people’s Network is for everyone. A Network that is safe and accessible for all who use it, now and in the future.
Our plans aren’t just to deliver more traffic-free miles. We’re also working to improve and maintain existing ones. You can help us make traffic-free paths places for everyone to walk and wheel safely and freely.
