What we do

Sustrans' School Travel team encourages children to walk and cycle to school through a range of practical and educational measures. Our goal is to get the whole school community working together to make the school journey safer, healthier and more enjoyable for everyone.

In 2011/12, we celebrate 16 years of working with school with our Free Range Kids campaign, helping young people get outdoors, get active and be independent. Read more, download resources and get involved on the Free Range Kids website.

We aim to:

Information service

We provide free information for schools, parents, pupils, councils and anybody else interested in school travel initiatives. Find answers to all those niggling school travel questions in our comprehensive FAQ section. Keep up with all the latest school travel news and events here.

Action days

Our School Travel team arranges Action days - one-day packages combining fun and information with free training for pupils, teachers, parents and school representatives. They equip champions with the inspiration and knowledge needed to take a leading role in school travel initiatives.

Our School Travel team brings enthusiasm and knowledge to each day, stimulating productive sessions using fun and unique approaches to ensure a high level of participation and enjoyment.
