Route 75

National Route 75National Route 75 of the National Cycle Network connects Leith with Portavadie via Edinburgh, Glasgow and the ferry between Gourock and Dunoon. Another branch of the route will head south from Gourock to Ardrossan.

Open Sections: The route is open, signed, and mainly traffic-free between Leith and Gourock as the Clyde to Forth cycle route.

Dunoon to Gourock is open and signed on roads. Caldedonian MacBrayne operate ferries between Gourock and Dunoon and between Portavadie and Tarbet (Loch Fyne) from where it is a short cycle ride to join National Route 78.

Warning Triangle Route Closure: Airdrie to Bathgate Railway Path

Network Rail took ownership of the old railway line in July 2008. The path between Airdrie and Bathgate will close on 19 October 2008 to allow construction of the new railway line. Diversions will be put in place, but there are no signed routes at present. An alternative path will be constructed alongside the new railway in parts and the National Route will use minor roads in others. The cycle path is scheduled to open in December 2010.
