Route 23
National Route 23 of the National Cycle Network will run south from Reading to Southampton via Basingstoke, Alresford, Winchester and Eastleigh with a spur to Alton.
The route continues on the Isle of Wight from Cowes and Sandown via Newport with a ferry running between Southampton and Cowes.
Open Sections: The route is now open and signed between Reading and Alresford and Alton via Basingstoke. All of the route between Cowes and Sandown via Newport on the Isle of Wight is open and signed. There are also smaller open sections between Eastleigh and Southampton.
