Castle Street key evaluation results

Surveys were undertaken at the outset of the project and again at the end of the project. Below is a brief synopsis of the results:

Safer:

41% of residents agree that traffic speeds have been reduced
22% of residents agree that traffic volumes have been reduced
This is further backed up by traffic volume and speed counts which were conducted at the outset and again when the project was complete.

7% of residents now feel that their street is safe for children to play on, up from 0% at the outset

Greener:

44% of residents say the street is greener and more attractive than it was

Sense of community:

80% now feel that the street is pedestrian friendly up from only 53% at the outset
45% of residents surveyed say they are socialising with people in their street who they didn't know before

Recommendation:

56% of those surveyed would recommend DIY Streets to their friends, family and neighbouring streets

Additional or ongoing resident involvement:

The residents of Castle Street have set up a constituted residents group.
