What is DIY Streets?

DIY Streets consultation

DIY Streets is a Sustrans project that brings communities together to help them redesign their streets, putting people at their heart and making them safer and more attractive places to live. It's an affordable, community-led alternative to the home zones design concept.

To transform your street, or if you're part of an organisation that might like to support this community-focused project, browse the links on the left, or read our key publications, listed on the right. Find more detailed information in the DIY Streets Resources section. Flickr also some great DIY Streets photos for you to have a look at. Good luck, and keep us updated on progress!

DIY Streets opening party

DIY Streets was successfully piloted in eleven communities in England and Wales. It's now being trialed as a larger neighbourhood-wide scheme in the London Borough of Haringey. Our Project Review will give you a flavour for how things work, too.
