Scunthorpe Ridgeway connections

Scunthorpe imageThis Sustrans Connect2 scheme is realising an 80 year old vision to finally complete a continuous path running north to south through the town with beautiful, peaceful views westwards over the Trent Valley, which will join seamlessly with schools and colleges along the way to Abercrombie's Central Park.

The Ridgeway will connect Crosby and Hempdykes in the north western part of town via Westcliffe to Riddings. New signalled crossings of Kingsway, approximately midway, have already been completed with a link to North Lindsey College.

The next section to be finished will include a crossing at Burringham Road with links through Manor park to Thomas Sumpter school. Included is a new Olympic themed open air gym designed for free use by all but particularly intended for the many schools in the area with easy access via the Ridgeway. Work is due to be completed in 2012 with the final installation of new bridges over West Common Lane and Bridges Road.
