Monmouth, local connections

The restoration and re-decking of the historical old iron railway bridge over the Wye will be the focal point for this project.  This will create a new off road route into town as well also providing a unique, beautiful view of the joining together of the Wye and the River Monnow.  It is hoped that future routes will be able to join up to Symonds Yat along the Peregrine Path, and South to Redbrook and beyond.

monmouth scheme imageThis scheme will link Wyesham to the town centre via the Iron Bridge, Beech Road and the north side of the River Monnow. The second part of the scheme will link the centre of Town with the Rockfield Estate, then on to Osbaston via Vauxhall Fields and to Monmouth Comprehensive after crossing Hereford Road.  Sustrans is working closely with the local community, Monmouthshire County Council and the Welsh Assembly to deliver the scheme.
