Banbury, Oxford Canal Links

Banbury is a classic example of how rapid development has gradually shifted the town further away to the opposite side of its local canal, making it increasingly cut off.  This project will help re-connect these local areas, with a new proposed pedestrian and cycle bridge, which will span across the canal, particularly benefitting local residents in Calthorpe, Easington and Bodicote and enabling pedestrians and cyclists to make local, everyday journeys.

The new, proposed Bankside housing development area will provide more traffic-free paths and recreational green spaces, in the future for local people to enjoy. The existing National Cycle Network Route 5 is currently inaccessible from Banbury's town centre, as it skirts the southern edge.  This scheme will also improve this route from Bodicote into the town centre enabling easy and improved access.
