Holdingham and Sleaford over A17
Only two miles separate the towns of Leasingham and Sleaford, yet local residents are often discouraged to walk or cycle between them, as the only way currently to cross the busy A17 dual carriageway, is at a large roundabout with fast-moving traffic.
A new traffic-free path will overcome this problem, running from Leasingham and linking to the centre of Sleaford as well as a farm bridge over the A17. Pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users will be able to travel between both towns and villages to make everyday journeys and access local amenities along an attractive, safe and direct route.
The route will also extend the existing Bishops Walk path from Leasingham and will connect to the current bridge over the A17. The current bridge embankments will be easily accessible to everyone, pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair users or parents with pushchairs. This path will end at Holdingham Lane and will link to the existing shared use path on the east side of Lincoln Road, dedicated to walkers and cyclists. Road improvements will be made to help walkers and cyclists cross the side roads junctions more easily, creating an easy, direct route to Sleaford town centre and making it far easier for local members of the community to make everyday, local journeys by foot or by bike.
