Everton Park and the Mersey

This scheme will connect Everton Park with its wonderful views of Liverpool, the Mersey and beyond, to the newly refurbished towpaths of the Leeds Liverpool canal, and eventually through to the River Mersey once the regeneration of the docklands in the area is complete.

Liverpool imageAt the moment, this part of the city is disconnected by a number of very busy roads which run out of the city centre, and are difficult to cross.  Overall, this route will provide a vital east to west link in the north of the city, using quiet roads. Accessibility will also be improved using new Toucan crossings, lower pavement kerbs and clearer signage.

Many local communities will benefit from this scheme, including Eldonian Village, Eldon Grove, University Halls of residence at Atlantic Point, and Everton Nature Park.  Local schoolchildren at Faith Primary School will particularly benefit as the new route will pass directly through the school giving the chance to walk or cycle to and from school.  High numbers of tourists flock to this area every summer and this route will give many narrow boat owners who moor at Edonian Village new opportunities to explore the local area on foot and by bike.   Eventually, this new route will link into Regional Route 81 at Everton Park.
