Croydon Park Links
As a major commercial centre in south London, Croydon has highly populated, built up areas and access to the many green spaces closeby, can be difficult. This new scheme will connect members of the community to their local parks nearby, giving people the chance to relax and enjoy some peaceful time away from the hustle and bustle as well as enabling people to make their everyday, local journeys on foot or by bike.
The main route will connect Wandle Park to Lloyd Park, via Croydon's town centre; there will be a number of improved crossings for pedestrians and cyclists at Roman Way and Park Lane. The scheme overall, will also connect into the two major National Cycle Network routes in south London - the Wandle Trail and Waterlink Way, extending the benefits to the wider community.
In the future, other routes may also be developed if funding becomes available; one of which will build on the newly opened Addiscombe Railway Park, a former rail line opened as a new route for pedestrians and cyclists, to link the communities of Addiscombe and Woodside to South Norwood Country Park and Croydon town centre.
