Bethnal Green and new bridge over Regents Canal to Mile End Park

Meath Gardens Bridge was officially opened in October 2009 and is the centrepiece of this Sustrans' Connect2 scheme, spanning the Regents Canal in London and forming the centrepiece of a route connecting Bethnal Green Gardens to Meath Gardens, Mile End Park and Victoria Park.  The new bridge weighing more than 65 tonnes, has already made huge improvements to the local area by enabling pedestrians and cyclists to make local journeys in a pleasant traffic-free environment for the first time, between residential areas, local parks, schools and hospitals, avoiding the notoriously busy Mile End Road and Roman Road.

The route crosses National Cycle Network Route 1 in Mile End Park and terminates in Victoria Park close to the route allowing good connections to a much wider area.
