Emma joined Sustrans in February 2012

“I’m really happy to be working for Sustrans, I grew up cycling and really loved the independence and fitness that it gave me, I’m also passionate about the environment and love working with children. It’s fantastic to be able to influence children in a way that could benefit them for the rest of their lives.”

Emma has a degree in Environmental Sciences and a Playwork qualification. On the days she’s not working for Sustrans she works as a Playranger or can be found in the forest with a camp fire running birthday parties or whittling a spoon. Most of her previous jobs have involved trees; planting them, growing them or playing under them!

Emma’s schools for 2011/12:

What's Emma up to?

It’s really encouraging to see 12 Swindon schools entering the Big Pedal and one of those, namely Oakhurst Community Primary, making a fantastic effort and winning the Big Pedal overall. All this without having had input from a Bike It officer for over 6 months, it just goes to demonstrate that Bike It can be self sustaining.

Being new in role and considering the gap between Bike It officers I am going to offer all the schools the same amount of support regardless of their status and the length of time they have been enrolled with Bike It. This will give me the chance to evaluate how they are getting on and how much support they need as a lot can change in 6 months.
