Stuart joined Sustrans in October 2011

“Coming from a background of working as a Cycling Officer in London where cycling is becoming regarded as the norm in many schools, I'm keen to keep the momentum going and expand cycling to the masses in Hertfordshire.  I'm aware of the many challenges which lie ahead but I want to help schools to help themselves to install a culture of cycling and allow pupils and their parents to discover the many benefits of cycling for themselves.”

“My previous roles have included local government roles around cycling and schools travel plans, also the CTC on a short term work based challenge project.  I've also spent three years as a bikeability instructor in London, so have experienced plenty of wet, cold Januarys and lovely summer days. I've never forgotten how lucky I am to be working in a industry I really care about and love and I'm proud to now be working for Sustrans.”

What's Stuart up to?

Taking on new schools in some new areas for Sustrans is daunting, but I'm confident that I will be working with 12 schools by the end of January. I'm keen to offer schools a wide range of activities and competitions to help create a buzz about cycling and attract lots of new children to cycle to school.
