"I'm a life-long cyclist. It's given me so much pleasure I decided to change careers to give something back. I started coaching 10 years ago and enjoyed it so much that I moved to full-time coaching, instructing and tutoring. I'm really excited about working for Sustrans. For me cycling is a way of life, and it's inspirational to work with such a dedicated team of people. I've seen the great work done by Bike It officers before, and hope that I can manage to pass my enthusiasm on to the next generation whether they cycle for leisure, health, transport or environmental benefits."

What is Martin up to?
The summer term has seen lots of great Bike It events. As a prize for winning the Big Pedal in Exeter, Clyst Heath Primary School had a day of activity including an obstacle course and skills sessions for every child who brought their bike on the day, and a Treasure Hunt offered to the entire school.
Many schools had an ‘I Love My Bike Day’ where children washed their bikes and were helped to check, oil, and maintain them in preparation for more riding in the summer.
Several primary schools took part in transition rides to secondary schools, and over a week in July, approximately 300 children, school staff and parent helpers enjoyed guided cycle rides around the 5km cycle track at Killerton House (National Trust) with free cycle hire provided by Bike It in conjunction with the National Trust.
