Trafford pupils set to get more active
Trafford Council & the Trafford Partnership have partnered with Sustrans to encourage more children in the area to walk and cycle to school to increase pupils' fitness levels and cut congestion around school gates.
Andy Adkin has been appointed as the new Sustrans Bike It officer for Trafford. Andy comments, “I’m looking forward to getting fun cycling activities happening across Trafford’s schools and surrounding communities. It’s important for the children to get their bikes checked - especially if they’ve been sat in the garden shed for a few months.”
Over the next year, Andy’s role will involve managing a number of initiatives, events and activities at schools across the area, to boost levels of cycling. He will show children how to maintain their bikes to ensure they are safe to ride, whilst delivering classroom activities related to cycling and health. He will also organise cycling related challenges, competitions and activities, including bike rides, to encourage children on to their bikes.
