Secrets of Nuneaton by Lesley Kerman
The Secrets of Nuneaton was a temporary installation in a pedestrian tunnel - a specially restored old cattle creep under the railway in Riversley Park, National Route 52.
To develop the Secrets of Nuneaton, a 'talking shop' was set up in Nuneaton with assistance from local artist Alissa Miller. The town people and press were invited to talk about the area, suggest what to include in the bricks, and donate items and images.
The thoughts, memories, and artifacts were recorded by the artist and collated into bound book. The book presented the community's collaborative ideas alongside final designs for brick. Every brick contains a silk ribbon, woven locally since the 17th century, and some reference the lives of writer George Elliot and film director Ken Loach who were inspired by life in Nuneaton.
