Celestial Railroad by John Downie

The Celestial Railroad is a novel written across the landscape in which it is set. The pages travelling east to west, mounted on sheets of steel in various positions and locations describe a simple narrative written rather like an old fashioned school reader which develops the story of John Bunyan's Pilgrims Progress and Nathaniel Hawthorne's subsequent parody of it, the Celestial Railroad. The moral of this narrative is that if you want to make the difficult journey to the Celestial City then there is more to it than simply purchasing a ticket and riding there on a comfortable train.
