Active Travel Scotland works with policy-makers and practitioners to promote walking and cycling as health-enhancing physical activity.

Active Travel Scotland aim to increase the number of Scottish people improving their health through walking and cycling, and is supported by the Scottish Government as part of the delivery framework for the physical activity strategy, Let's Make Scotland More Active.

National Active Travel Conference
Following the success of the first National Active Travel Conference in 2008, a second conference was held in Perth Concert Hall on 13th May 2009.
Run in partnership with Living Streets, Paths for All, the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and Cycling Scotland the conference, titled Walking, Cycling, Connecting Communities provided an opportunity for the political value of active travel to be fully explored, with delegates gaining a better understanding of the practice and policy measures necessary to realise the full potential of active travel.
The overall aim of the Conference was to generate momentum for change within the delegates' respective places of work and within the Scottish Government.

Active Travel Scotland policy
- Active Travel Scotland respond to consultations to help ensure health and transport policies translate into increased walking and cycling.
- Active Travel Scotland also works nationally with decision makers in health, education, transport and environment sectors to promote active travel and help increase the evidence base on the health impact of active travel projects.

Active Travel Scotland is working in partnership with Paths to Health and Cycling Scotland on three practical initiatives called Get Active Getting There!
By implementing and developing a range of innovative strategies, the initiatives aim to increase walking and cycling levels, reduce traffic congestion and emissions and ultimately improve the health and well-being of communities.
