About StreetTread
StreetTread is working in Southampton to encourage physical activity and wellbeing in six Priority Neighbourhoods with high levels of deprivation and health inequalities: Weston, Bevois & Bargate, Outer Shirley, Portswood and St Denys, Swaythling and Thornhill.
The project aims to encourage those experiencing or at risk of developing health problems related to physical inactivity, including young parents, older people, people with disabilities and people with mental health issues.
A priority aim is to offer walking and cycling options to the already existing and very successful GP referral service in the city. The project also aims to make walking and cycling available at schools, leisure centres, local parks, and open spaces, and make use of the growing network of cycle and foot paths.
