- Dad of nine saves pounds cycling away the lbs: Active Lives, Healthy People are continually helping Luton residents to pedal their way to a happier and healthier lifestyle through their bike loan scheme.
- On 12th July Active Lives, Healthy People held a Faith Walk and Ride in partnership with Luton Borough Council. The event was well attended and many of the young people were able to take loan bikes home afterwards, having taken cycle training two weeks prior.
- Active Lives, Healthy People are extending their Pool Bikes in the Workplace scheme and have now placed bikes with Groundwork and LBC Street Services.
- Patients at Whipperly Medical Centre are now being referred to Active Lives, Healthy People's 'Whipperley Walkers' health walking group. The group is also linked with the recently opened Children's Centre in the area.
Previous news
April 2009 - Active Lives, Healthy People published the first in a series of local walking and cycling maps. Download the South Luton and Farley active travel map (pdf). Two 'park and stride' schemes with two primary schools in the area have been implemented as a result of the map.
December 2008 - 25 recycled bikes from Active Lives, Healthy People have been loaned out free of charge to the University of Bedfordshire.
October 2008 - 'Diversity Walks' were launched for University of Bedfordshire students, with plans to develop them within the university and various community groups.
July 2008 - Youngsters prove that getting active in Luton is child's play

About Active Lives, Healthy People
Active Lives, Healthy People aims to encourage the less active population of Luton to increase their levels of regular physical activity through walking and cycling. The project works specifically in deprived areas.
A major feature of this project is refurbishing unused bikes and loaning them to people who do not own a bike.
