Sustrans continues to develop and extend the National Cycle Network throughout Wales. We now have the funding in place to develop new routes across the south Wales valleys, benefiting many thousands of people who live within these communities.

Details of routes being developed can be found in our news pages, and rides can be found in the easy rides section. You can also find all sorts of rides at our bilingual Routes2Ride Wales website. The site features full route descriptions, maps, weather forecasts and RSS feeds.

Sustrans has several Connect2 schemes in Wales, and over the coming years we will see new bridges and crossings over rivers, roads and railways linking in to new networks of walking and cycling routes to enable many thousands of people to be able to choose to travel on foot and bike for local, everyday journeys.

Our Active Travel team is working closely with employers and the NHS in Wales to enable people to walk and cycle more to work as a key way to ensure people achieve the recommended daily levels of physical activity.

Bike It is now underway in Wales, significantly increasing levels of cycling to school, and we look forward to this area of our work expanding.

We are also piloting DIY Streets in Wales, working with local people to redesign the streets where they live around their needs, rather than those passing through. We work with residents to create liveable spaces outside their front doors, where kids can play and neighbours chat, and where traffic travels slowly, enabling people to walk and cycle more.
