Stonehouse

Beginning in Stonehouse in the Stroud Valley, this delightful traffic-free route follows the line of the old Midland railway and provides a welcome alternative to local busy roads.

The route provides with wonderful views of the Cotswolds to the east and is never far from the water, periodically joining the River Frome, the disused Stroudwater Canal and the Nailsworth Stream. Watch out for water mills and other interesting buildings along the way. The route also takes you through an orchard.

Minchinhampton & Rodborough Commons, managed by the National Trust, are both accessible from this cycle path. Both require a challenging uphill ride on minor roads, however the views at the end are very much worth it.
