South East
There are seven Connect2 schemes in the South East where new crossings of roads, rivers or railways are being developed. When complete, these schemes will enable millions more local journeys to be made by foot and bike.
Bike It officers work with schools in several towns and cities across the region achieving significant increases to the number of children cycling to school helping them towards a happier, healthier journey. Sustrans is also creating new Links to Schools working with Local Authorities to provide safe routes for cycling and walking. These links also benefit the wider community.
Our Active Travel team works closely with local communities to encourage people to lead a more active lifestyle by walking and cycling.
We are particularly grateful to our loyal and committed volunteer Rangers who helps us to maintain and promote the sections of National Cycle Network in their communities throughout the region. Thanks also to volunteers who help at events and in Sustrans offices - their support is vital to our success. You can find more about the opportunities at our volunteering pages.
We continue to develop and promote the National Cycle Network in the South East. Details of routes and rides can be found in the county and easy rides sections.
