Running close to the River Clyde for most of its length, the Clyde Walkway is a walking and cycling trail which runs from the centre of Glasgow to the Falls of Clyde near New Lanark. This section runs from central Glasgow to the village of Uddingston. You can join the route at any point between Bells Bridge and Glasgow Green. From Glasgow Green, you soon leave the hustle and bustle of central Glasgow following an attractive, wooded section of path following alongside the river.
There is a mile-long section along a quiet road through Newton, where you can enjoy views of the Campsie Hills that lie to the north of the city, before re-joining the traffic-free path, crossing the Clyde and reaching Uddingston. From here, the Clyde Walkway continues to Bothwell Castle where there are some attractive wooded sections filled with bluebells in spring.
