Sustrans' in Northern Ireland recently piloted a new approach to enabling children to walk and cycle more in rural areas by working on a range of initiatives with 18 schools throughout the country with great results.

We continue to expand and improve the National Cycle Network - the recently completed and opened Comber Greenway is a great community resource for walking and cycling in the heart of Belfast. Information on National Cycle Network routes in Northern Ireland and some reccommended rides can be found in the Easy Rides section.

Sustrans also has several Connect2 schemes underway in Northern Ireland. When complete there will be new crossings of rivers, roads and railways linking into networks of walking and cycling routes, enabling people to make everyday journeys on foot and bike that are currently impossible.

Sustrans wouldn't be the charity it is without our volunteers, so thanks to all who give their time to support us in this way, or as a volunteer Ranger on the National Cycle Network. You can find information on volunteering opportunities on our volunteering pages.
